Job Purpose

The Training and Development Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that the training and development activities for the Manufacturing site to meet the business needs. They create customer success by delivering the best experiences to their internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Root cause knowledge and skill gaps including in lean manufacturing, technical skills, and power skills and develop countermeasures, such as new training and action plans, to close them.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to identify training and competency gaps, and provide training to manufacturing personnel as needed to address them.
  • Deliver training as part of new employee orientation in a manufacturing setting.
  • Perform hands-on technical training for new and existing employees.
  • Review existing training programs and materials to identify gaps, outdated information, or opportunities for improvement.
  • Use employee feedback, performance data, quality results, and observations to evaluate training effectiveness, and adjust training content or delivery methods as needed.
  • Manage the Training Management System and related software, including maintaining its accuracy and functionality.
  • Develop and qualify trainers to meet the training needs of the facility.

Experience Required

  • Degree in Business, Human Resources, Operations Management or Management, Adult Education, or related field; the equivalent of education and work experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an aptitude for tracing issues like equipment breakdowns, quality problems, or safety incidents back to their root cause.
  • Ability to design training materials and other solutions to help close identified knowledge and skill gaps.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to confidently teach and train individuals and groups.
  • Comfort learning new software, such as a training management system, to track and analyze training data.
  • Willingness and ability to learn hands-on technical and manufacturing skills well enough to train others — no prior background in these specific skills is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is CAD $64,625.00 - $77,396.00 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
