PVP Intern-2 

         

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work directly with a Plant Variety Protection Scientist during summer field trials at the Woodland site. The role focuses on collecting critical data from plant characteristics throughout the growing season, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of research outcomes. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting agricultural research by conducting field assessments, managing data collection processes, and maintaining laboratory operations. This hands-on position requires attention to detail, a passion for plant science, and the ability to work effectively in both field and laboratory environments.  

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

• Assess plant parts based on calibration guides to collect high quality, reliable data on fruit and vegetable characteristics;

• Input collected data into data management systems using computers or tablets;

 • Work alongside the PVP Scientist to assess plant maturity and ensure timely completion of data collection activities;

 • Perform general laboratory maintenance tasks to support ongoing research operations;

• Maintain accurate records of field observations and measurements;

• Follow established protocols and procedures for data collection and quality assurance  

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Agriculture, Botany, Biology, or Horticulture;
  • Proficiency in using computer programs for data input and management;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow calibration guides accurately;
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a research team;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with scientists and team members.

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $22.75 to $47.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
