Location: Windsor, ON
Position Type: Finance
The pay range for this positions is: $95,000-$142,800 Position is eligible for an annual bonus incentive, payout is based on company and individual performance.Salary: Salaried - Exempt

About the Position

We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated Canadian Tax Manager to join ADM’s Global Tax Department. The candidate will become part of our North American Tax group with duties that include leading the strategy for Canada and its foreign affiliates in coordination with broader global strategic initiatives, pro-active tax planning, identifying and implementing tax savings opportunities, overseeing income tax compliance and US GAAP reporting, and improving our overall Canadian tax processes. The position will also include assistance with our statutory financial compliance. This position will play an integral role in the development and growth of the department in Canada. This position may also assist with indirect tax, transfer pricing, excise and other related duties as needed and will report to the Senior Director of North American Tax. The Canadian Tax Manager will also have the opportunity to assist with strategic US federal income tax matters, where time allows.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand the business dynamics, commercial and regional group strategy to be able to communicate effectively and become a valued business partner
  • Interact with country Executive Management and Heads of operational departments (e.g. Finance, Supply Chain, Sales) to provide proactive commercial tax guidance in driving tax efficient, effective and compliant business solutions
  • Responsible for ADM’s direct and indirect Canadian tax affairs, including interface with government authorities
  • Manage tax authority engagements, audits and controversies in Canada, including voluntary disclosures, appeals, and competent authority claims
  • Manage intercompany financing arrangements/dividend distribution schedule for Canada and its foreign affiliates
  • Manage tax projects in Canada region from design to implementation
  • Advise the businesses on high value activities (e.g. major contracts, IP, M&A, ERP roll-outs, and corporate restructuring)
  • Support Quarterly US GAAP reporting
  • Assist with tax special projects such as credits and incentives or other planning
  • Responsible for design and implementation of regional transfer pricing policies, in coordination with global transfer pricing team
  • Oversee Canadian direct and indirect tax compliance (income tax compliance work is outsourced)
  • Assist with Canadian statutory accounting
  • Assist with US Tax Reporting obligations for the Canadian group and affiliates
  • Work with Canadian Carbon Tax and Sustainability initiatives
  • Monitor tax legislative developments impacting the business and effectively communicate to stakeholders
  • Manage portfolio of external advisors to ensure quality of deliverables and within budget
  • Design, Develop and deliver appropriate tax training to the business to address risks and improve the overall awareness and capabilities in the business
