About the Role
We’re seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join our Maintenance team in Calgary. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring safe and efficient plant operations by maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment used in food and feed production.
You’ll support both preventive and breakdown maintenance activities, ensuring that electrical components, control systems, and plant equipment operate reliably and safely. This position involves working in a fast-paced industrial environment and may require shift work, weekend work, and responding to after-hours maintenance calls when necessary.
What You’ll Do
Perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment and systems
Diagnose electrical faults and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and support PLC-based control systems to maintain efficient and reliable operation of automated plant equipment
Maintain and repair electrical components, motors, control systems, and related equipment
Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and equipment documentation
Support preventive maintenance programs and respond to emergency equipment breakdowns
Recommend equipment upgrades, modifications, or improvements to increase reliability and performance
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment changes
Follow all plant safety policies and procedures while performing maintenance work
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments
Work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a collaborative team environment
What You Bring
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and maintenance practices
Ability to troubleshoot electrical and control system issues in a manufacturing environment
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work under time constraints and respond effectively to equipment failures
Self-motivated, adaptable, and dependable with a strong safety mindset
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Education and Experience
Valid Journeyman Electrician certification
Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of OHSA standards, GMPs, HACCP, and applicable food/feed safety regulations
